Hi there, I’m fairly new to Sweden, so excuse me for not writing in English.
I have a question regarding maximising the parental leave. I work for a company that provides Supplementary compensation thus I’d have 90% of salary - great. But I would need to take 7 days every week, meaning if I want to take 4 months off, I would go thought my parental leave quickly and won’t have much left ![]()
To solve it, I wanted to take only 5 days a week, but after talking to Payroll, the issue is that if I take 5 days as parental leave in Week 1, and same in Week 2, the system assumes I’m on full 7 day parental leave and marks it as 7 days. Not good ![]()
To break that I was thinking I could take Mondays as regular vacations. Meaning, 1 day vacation and then 4 days parental leave. In that case the system would not assume I’m taking a full parental leave, and I can take 5 days. I counted that finacially it would work well. And for protecting SGI I have 5 days covered. I would need to code every week on my own, but with this I could also take advantage of public holidays and have extra days off.
I guess I could make it happen at my work, but I wanted to check if this is ok/legal in Sweden. We have a collective agreement from Unionen, and it seems to state that I can take only 3 periods of parental leave a year. Kinda weird, dunno who checks it, but could this still work somehow? It says if a person takes regular " day off every week", then it is taken as one period. If I interpret it in my words, if I take 4 days a week, every week, then I guess that is one period too.
I hope it is not too complicated
Thank you in advance.
// Essentially there is a huge difference. 180 days / 7 days is 25 weeks, and 180 days / 4 days is amazing 45 weeks (of course I’d need 45 vacations days, so that would need to be solit into 2 years).
